An Eco-Friendly Bear Essentials Sprinkle

This is a cake I made for my friend Heidi's "sprinkle." The theme of the shower was "Bear Essentials" with an eco-friendly twist. In addition, the baby-to-be's nursery bedding was all about stars. So, I combined all three--green in color to be eco-friendly, teddy bear on top and stars and bears on the sides. The cake was a two tier chocolate cake with buttercream frosting. The bear on top is gumpaste and bears and stars on the sides are vanilla fondant.

Strawberry Shortcake

This is a 10 inch homemade strawberry shortcake I made for a friend to give his wife. It's a double layer sponge cake filled with strawberries and vanilla whipped cream frosting. The cake was topped with more strawberries and glazed with strawberry preserves (homemade by my Mommy...yum!). It's a little hard to see the decoration on the top, but there is a strawberry fanned out with whipped cream.

Bunco "Wedding Cake"

This cake was for a friend that was hosting a bunco night with the theme "bad bridesmaid dresses", so I modeled this cake a little around the dress she had mentioned she was wearing. The bottom tier is a double layer chocolate cake with a raspberry & ganache filling and the top tier is my pound/plain cake with a lemon buttercream filling.

Birthday cakes

I made two cakes for 7 year old boys. Both were 6 inch pound cakes with buttercream frosting. The first boy wanted a Star Wars ship and the second wanted the Iron-Man superhero mask. The ship and the mask were completed doing a buttercream transfer technique.

Gumpaste Mary

Here's another gumpaste lady "Gumpaste Mary" that I did this week. Although this one was a rush job, I think she turned out ok.
