Monkey Cupcakes

These are cupcakes I made for a co-worker's baby shower. She loves red velvet cake, so the cupcakes are red velvet with a pale blue tinted cream cheese frosting (she's having a boy).

The monkeys are made of gumpaste, fondant, and royal icing.

Snowball Cake

This is another cake I made for our 4th of July cookout.  The "cake" is basically a trifle composed of angel food cake and a mixture of strawberries, jello, and whipped cream.
I topped the dish with cut strawberries and blueberries.

Red, White & Blue Mini-Cupcakes

I made these mini-cupcakes for our 4th of July cookout.  The cupcakes were a butter vanilla white cake.
I colored the batter so that each cupcake was a layer of red, white, and followed by a layer of blue.  The icing is buttercream and the stars are fondant.

Farewell Blackberry Cake

This is a cake I made for a co-worker who is moving to Tennessee.  He was very attached to his BlackBerry so I thought this was an appropriate send off for him!
It's a 12x18 chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream and covered in fondant.
Details were made using royal icing.

Hokie Bird Graduate

A friend of mine's daughter is graduating from Virginia Tech this week.
So, of course being a Hokie myself, I had to make her a Hokie Bird Cake!
The cake is a double layer Lemon-Almond-Awesome Pound Cake covered in buttercream frosting.
I then covered the cake in fondant. The wording and "Hokie Feet" are royal icing.
The Congratulations banner and graduation hat are gumpaste.
